Digital Surveillance Systems .
Broadcast in analog format, the main surveillance systems in the past, seemed to beCCTV. Pictures would have to be recorded, as signals did not reach that far, and watched at a later date and images were not in real time. This system was fine as long as you didn’t leave the house!
Over recent years, the internet has brought us many exciting and new technologies, one of which being the ability to watch our house, through a webcam, via the internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week as long as you have a connection. Images of your house can be sent, through the internet, to your laptop for you to watch in real time.
You also have the option of having cameras in various rooms and nowadays, more and more companies are installing digital surveillance cameras to cut down on both theft and vandalism.
Nowadays, the are numerous surveillance packages available or, indeed, you may want to build your own. When buying your cameras it is important that they are discreet and blend in with the surroundings as much as possible and most importantly of all do not cut on cost. The more you spend the clearer the images will be.
A host of software is also available if you are creating your own surveillance system. Look out for software that will alert you by phone, text or email when an intruder enters your property. This is very useful if you are away from home for long amounts of time.
Unlike the old analog videos, these days images recorded in a digital format are much clearer and retain their quality however many times they are played back. Compressing the files also enables you to save and file them much easier than a stack of video tapes.
There are many advantages to digital surveillance systems and these days systems are fairly inexpensive and simple to install and operate.
